RAW Score Calculator

Raw Score Calculator

Raw Score Calculator - from any kind of score

+

To be able to calculate raw scores, you need to know:
1) Two numbers of two scales that correspond. For example, if I know that from the raw score 23, I have obtained the result 45, then 23 will be introduced into the first slot called 'Score in the raw scale' slot, and 45 will be introduced in the 'Score that correspond to the raw score' slot.
You can also use here the maximum score of the scales. For example, if I know that the maximum possible score in the raw score scale is 10, and that the maximum possible score in the transformed scale is 100, I will introduce those two numbers on these two slots. 10 would go into the 'Score in the raw scale' slot, and 100 would go into the 'Score that correspond to the raw score' slot.

2) The number from which we want to calculate our raw score.
We will introduce that score into the 'Score to transform' slot.
This is the most simple formula that you can use. This formula will only work if both of your scales start at the same point, usually at 0. And if both scales are proportional. Most of the cases that you will be working at an introductory level are like this, so this formula will work for most of the scales.

How this raw score calculator works
A step-by-step explanation

A raw score is a number that has not been cooked yet. This raw score calculator let you obtain that number. Normally it is the number that we have of origin, it is the number that we are going to transform. Even so, sometimes we may want to do the opposite process, and calculate what would be the raw score from a number already transformed beforehand.

This raw score calculator allows us to calculate that number, following a very simple process. In order to carry out this process we need to know at least a correspondence between the raw score scale and the score we want to transfer. Normally, the easiest correspondence is between the maximum possible numbers of each scale. That is, if we have two scales (one of raw score and another of another type of score) we look at the maximum number of each scale, and this will be the number that we will introduce in each slot.

You can do this with z-scores or t-scores. For example, if I have a t-score scale, I know that the maximum value is 80, and if I know that those values have been obtained from the results of a school test, I know that the maximum result in a school test is 100, then I enter those two numbers in the first two slots, and I enter the number I want to transform into the next slot. For more details, read the raw score calculator directions right below the slots of the calculator.
Raw scores are used in many tests. It is an important part of the testing industry. For example, when you use a SAT Score Calculator or a GMAT Score Calculator, what you are doing is introducing raw scores so you can get 'cooked' scores, most of the times what we get are scaled scores. Those are the results of the tests.

For example, if I get 45 correct questions out of 60, that is my raw score. After a transformation of that score, I find out that my result in the test is 180, that is my final score.

That final score is a scaled score, and it is very helpful when I want to compare my results with other people on that same test, even with people that took the test in the past or that will take it in the future. In case that I want to go the other way, and with that I mean that I have a result but I want to obtain a raw score, then I can use the Raw Score Calculator in this website, so I can calculate a raw score for a z-score, for example. I can introduce my final result, and then get my raw scores (in the example before, I would be getting my number of correct answers). There are other calculators that can offer you a step-by-step calculation of a raw score, however, we encourage you to use the one on this same page.

Calculating z-scores are one of the most useful transformations we do in statistics when we want to compare raw scores. This Z-Score Calculator can do the trick for you. A Scaled Score Calculator can help you to get scaled scores, for example for tests. If you have all the required details, you can get the ACT test score if need to.
